Nature has always carried remedies for repair.
Music is one of my loves—an ancient expression that has traversed millenia. And being that we are not only composed of biology, but of vibration, too, it is no surprise that sound holds great significance throughout human history.
Studies have shown that there are noticeable decreases in stress, heart rate, and blood pressure when music is tuned to 432 Hz rather than 440 Hz, yet 440 has become our standard—and interestingly, there are correlations from a mathematical standpoint of 432 being a harmonic composition of nature.
One of nature’s many symphonies is that of bees—the matriarchal backbone of planetary health. We have come to fear this backbone as a species—its potency, its fire, its harmony and collectivism—yet the bees are one of nature’s many mirrors into our own return, into our own remembering.
The thrum of a bee’s wings is what produces the hum we hear—and this melodic concert is medicine. In a study published in March of this year, researchers observed the effects of bee hums on anxiety levels, revealing significant reductions of anxiety-states.
And for many years, there has been ongoing observation on the use of beekeeping and apitherapy for veterans and other individuals suffering from the effects of PTSD—with results showing decreased sadness, stress, anxiety, and loneliness after being exposed to and working with the bees.
